Birdie Sweater is an oversized cable-knit sweater. The construction begins with the back panel, shaped using german short rows. Stitches are then picked up for the shoulders, which are worked and joined to form the front panel. The pieces are seamlessly combined, and the body is knit in the round to the desired length before finishing with a short ribbed hem. Stitches for the sleeves and neckline are picked up directly from the main body and worked seamlessly.

Size:
1 (2) 3 (4)

Width:
101 (118) 134 (151) cm.

Length:
60 (62) 64 (66) cm.

Needles:
5 mm (40, 80/100 cm) and 4,5 mm (40, 80/100 cm).

Gauge:
19 sts x 26 r on needle 5 mm = 10 x 10 cm in structure after washing and blocking.

Note: Check your gauge by knitting a swatch. Wash and block the swatch. Once dry, count the stitches over 10 cm. If you have more stitches than stated, switch to larger needles. If you have fewer stitches, switch to smaller needles.

Important: The structure used in Birdie Sweater changes significantly after washing. Therefore you must wash and block your swatch before measuring. You will also need to wash and block the sweater when you are finished.

Yarn amount:
250 (300) 350 (350) gr Knitting for Olive Merino (50 gr = 250 m) together with 250 (275) 325 (350) gr Knitting for Olive Soft silk mohair (25 gr = 225 m).

Note that the sweater is worked with three strands: one strand merino held together with two strands of mohair.

Finding the right size:
Birdie Sweater is designed with approximately 20-30 cm of positive ease. Sizes 1 (2) 3 (4) correspond to a bust measurement of 70-85 (85-100) 100-115 (115-130) cm.

Example: If your bust measurement is 90 cm, size 2 has a finished bust circumference of 118 cm. To calculate the ease: 118 - 90 = 28 cm of positive ease.

Note that there is a larger gap between the sizes than what is usually found in my patterns. This is to ensure that the pattern and structure align properly. Choose your size based on the fit you want for your sweater. The size shown in the photos of the pattern is size 3, but my bust measurement (approx. 95 cm) corresponds to size 2. I chose size 3 instead because I wanted an extra oversized look. (That means mine has 39 cm of positive ease).
